For most of the 20th century, a single test determined whether someone was considered intelligent. One number. One metric. One incredibly narrow definition of a human mind. Millions of gifted, capable and brilliant people were told they were average — because the test never measured what they were actually good at.
Howard Gardner changed that. His Multiple Intelligences theory showed that humans are smart in at least eight fundamentally different ways — and that every single one of those ways is valid, valuable and worth understanding. We’ve expanded this research into a comprehensive suite of 42 specialized cognitive assessments, each exploring the nuances of how different minds work.
Dr. Howard Gardner
In 1983, developmental psychologist Howard Gardner published Frames of Mind — one of the most influential books in the history of education psychology. In it, he proposed that human intelligence is not a single fixed capacity measurable by a single test, but a rich family of at least seven distinct cognitive abilities. He later added an eighth — naturalist intelligence — in 1995.
